Voice Agents

AI phone agents for abandoned checkouts and sales calls

AI phone agents call back shoppers who left checkout, in beta, sell to your past buyers and turn a yes on the phone into a draft order.

Why it matters

An abandoned checkout is a shopper the store already paid ads to attract, and few teams have the hours to phone each one back.

Voice Agents turn that gap into recovered orders with AI agents that sell only the owner's offers at the store's own prices, and a won-back sale ships like any other order. Measured on a live store running Portantis, the recovery calls returned 500%+ ROI, and 40%+ of shoppers who answered the call placed the order.

Abandoned checkouts are customers you already paid for

Every abandoned checkout is a shopper your ads already paid to bring in. They left their contact details at checkout, then went away without ordering.

Calling each one back takes hours a small team does not have, so on busy days the calls get skipped. And when someone does call, the reason a customer said no stays in that person's head.

AI phone agents you set up and control

You build each agent: its voice, its language and what it notes down on every call, such as a new address, company invoice details or a preferred courier. Every change is kept, nothing reaches customers until you publish it, and agents never leave voicemail messages.

Abandoned checkout recovery is in beta. Agents call back shoppers who left an order unfinished, answer price worries with free shipping and can suggest more units or an add-on. Nobody is called about a product that is out of stock, and a recovery report shows every call, what was said and the orders won back, with what the calls cost and what they earned.

Sales campaigns are live. They call your past buyers or a list you bring, leaving out repeats, wrong numbers and people who asked not to be called. Agents sell only the products, prices and discounts you set, and a yes on the phone becomes a draft order in your store.

Voice Agents has its own section in the menu, with Confirmations, Draft recovery, Cold Calls and Agents. Abandoned checkout calls are under Draft recovery and sales campaigns under Cold Calls.

The AI holds the conversation inside your rules

The AI handles the whole phone call. It confirms, wins back and sells using only the products and discounts you allowed, never above your store prices. It notes every reason for a no and the details you asked for, and it checks the delivery address.

In writing, the AI suggests replies instead of sending them. In beta, customer emails arrive with a suggested reply, and a person approves each one before it goes out.

How it works

  1. Build the agentChoose the voice, the language and what each call should note down. Every change is kept.
  2. Set the limitsChoose when calls may happen, how many and how often a customer is tried. Pause at any time.
  3. Try it first (beta)Hear a new script without calling anyone, then try it on a few customers before everyone gets it.
  4. The agent callsIt calls shoppers who left checkout, in beta, or the people in your sales campaign, and offers only what you allowed.
  5. Results land in your storeA yes becomes a draft order. In beta, each call result is also marked on the order and shared with your team.

Voice Agents, feature by feature

AI calls that win back abandoned checkouts Beta

When a shopper leaves checkout, an AI agent calls them back in your calling hours, answers their questions and turns a yes into a real order in your store.

  • You choose the days and hours the agent may call, and you can change them at any time.
  • Hear it first without calling anyone, then try it on a few shoppers before it calls everyone.
  • Shoppers who already ordered, or who asked not to be called, are not called.
  • You decide what a yes, a no or a callback request does to the order, and anything unclear goes to a person.

Measured on a live store: 96% of abandoned checkouts called back by AI, and 40%+ conversion on abandoned checkouts among shoppers who answered the AI call.

See whether recovery calls pay Beta

One report shows every shopper the AI called, what was said, how it ended and what it cost, then what the orders won back earned, so you know whether calling pays.

  • Pick any period and see how many people answered, how many carts came back, the sales won back and the cost of each order won back.
  • Profit is shown after your real costs, and cancelled orders never count as won back.
  • Open any cart to see its whole story: every call, what was said, the offers made and the order it became.
  • Money totals are for admins only. Team members you let in see carts and results without the totals.

Whether calling pays is read from your own report. On a live store running Portantis: 500%+ ROI on AI recovery calls.

AI sales calls to your past buyers

Choose who to call, what the agent may sell and at what prices, and when it calls. Check it, then start. The agent calls, presents your offer and notes every answer.

  • Call your past buyers, for example people who received a product and kept it, or a list you bring.
  • The agent talks only about your products, using only facts your team has checked.
  • Once calls start, your offer and prices stay as you set them, and you can stop the campaign at any time.
  • For each person you see: interested or not, why they said no, who wants a callback and who asked not to be called again.

A list of past buyers becomes a day of sales calls without a call team, with every product, price and message set by you.

A yes on the phone becomes a draft order

When a customer agrees on a sales call, the agent goes over the order, the total and the address with them, checks the address and creates a draft order in your store. It never takes payment.

  • Prices are the ones you set, never above your store prices. The AI does not make up a price or a discount.
  • The customer hears the full order and the total before the yes counts.
  • If the address cannot be delivered to, the agent says so and no draft order is made.
  • You can hear a full sale in testing without anything reaching your store.

The agreed items, prices and a checked address arrive in your store ready to ship, with no call notes to retype.

Calling hours, limits and a do-not-call list

You decide when agents may call, how many calls happen, how often someone is tried and who is never called.

  • Set the days and hours agents may call, in your own time zone, and how many calls happen at once and each day.
  • The do-not-call list fills itself: people who asked to stop, wrong numbers and anyone you marked in your store are left out of every campaign.
  • Pause stops new calls at once. Calls already running finish and their results are saved.
  • Agents can hang up on answering machines and phone menus instead of leaving a message.

Calls stay inside rules you set: none outside your hours, none over your limits, and none to anyone who asked to stop.

Build your own phone agents

Write each agent's opening line and instructions, pick its voice and language, and choose what it notes down. Every saved change is kept, and publishing never calls anyone.

  • Choose how long calls may last and how the agent handles a silent line.
  • Choose what the agent writes down after each call, such as a new address or a company invoice request.
  • Tune how the voice sounds. Customers hear a change only after you publish it.
  • If a teammate saved a newer version while you were editing, you are told, so no change is lost.

You can change a script in minutes and keep every earlier version, and nothing reaches customers until you publish it.

Free shipping and extra offers on recovery calls Beta

When a shopper hesitates, the agent can offer free shipping. When they say yes, it can suggest more units or an add-on. Every offer follows your rules.

  • You choose whether free shipping is offered and when. A request to stop calling always comes first.
  • More units are offered only when you have the stock, at the discount you set.
  • The order changes only after the customer clearly agrees.
  • You see which offers were made and taken, and whether they led to more refused parcels.

Saves carts lost over the shipping cost and raises order value, and the AI never invents a discount you did not approve.

No calls for products you cannot ship, delivery on the day asked Beta

Recovery calls wait while a product in the cart is out of stock, and a customer who wants delivery later gets it on the day they asked for.

  • While a product is out of stock, nobody is called about it and no credits are spent.
  • Customers can ask for a later delivery day in their own words, and they are not called again about that order.
  • The order ships in time for that day, and your team is told ahead of time.
  • If a date is unclear or too late to meet, a person sets it instead of a guess.

Credits go only to calls about products you can ship, and parcels arrive on the day the customer asked for.

Call results reach your store and team on their own Beta

Every call ends with a clear result. It updates the order the way you chose and tells the right people in your team chat. Customers who call back reach the right agent.

  • For each result you choose what happens to the order: finish it, close it, call again, stop contact or send it to a person.
  • Choose which team chat channels hear about what, such as a sale won back, a company invoice request or a delivery day.
  • You can see when a customer asked whether they were talking to a robot.
  • A customer returning a missed call reaches the agent that knows their cart.

Call results reach the order and the team on their own, so nobody copies results from call notes into the store.

Refusal history that keeps repeat refusers away Beta

The refusal history is live: see every customer's parcel refusals across your stores. In beta, a rule you switch on can cancel new unpaid orders from repeat refusers before anyone calls them.

  • The history counts only parcels the customer really refused, not a courier's failed delivery.
  • The rule stays off until you switch it on, and it never touches orders placed before that.
  • It cancels only unpaid orders that have not shipped. Orders placed by your team or already confirmed are left alone.
  • Anything unclear goes to your team to decide.

No calling time or credits go to customers who keep leaving parcels at the courier.

What you can do with Voice Agents

  • Call back abandoned checkouts without hiring callers

A shopper leaves checkout at night. The next day, in your calling hours, the recovery agent, in beta, calls, answers the shipping question and offers free shipping if you allow it. The yes becomes an order your warehouse ships.

  • Sell an accessory to past buyers

Pick customers who received a product and kept it, offer the matching accessory at a better price when they take two, and let the agent call in your hours. Every yes arrives as a draft order.

  • Sell multi-packs by phone at your prices

Set a better price for bigger packs. The agent tells the customer the exact total, and a pack sold on the phone never costs more than in your store.

  • Try a new script on a few carts

Save a new opening or offer and publish it. In beta, you first hear it with no calls made, then on a few abandoned checkouts, and you read what was said before everyone gets it.

  • Hold calls until a product is back

In beta, when a cart holds a product that is out of stock, the recovery call waits, so you spend no credits and no shopper's patience on something you cannot ship yet.

  • Hear a full phone sale before launch

Before a campaign, run a test agent through a whole sale. You hear the order, the total and the address confirmed, and nothing reaches your store, so you hear the full call before any customer does.

  • See what recovery calls earned last month

Open last month in the recovery report, a beta feature: calls, answers, orders won back, cost per order won back and profit, with every conversation one click away.

Questions about Voice Agents

What is Voice Agents in PortantisAI?

Voice Agents is the PortantisAI module that gives you AI phone agents you set up and control. They run sales calls to your past buyers with only the products, prices and discounts you set, and a yes on the phone becomes a draft order in your store. Calling back abandoned checkouts is in beta.

Can the AI offer discounts I did not approve?

No. Agents sell only the products, prices and discounts you set, never above your store prices. On recovery calls, which are in beta, they can also offer free shipping or suggest more units or an add-on, only as you allow.

When will my customers be called?

Only in the hours you choose, and only as often as you allow. You can pause at any time. Agents never leave voicemail messages, and people who asked not to be called are left out before a campaign starts.

What does a call cost?

You see what every call costs. In beta, the recovery report puts call costs next to the sales won back and the profit. Portantis has no public price list during the closed beta. Join the waitlist and the team will follow up.

Is abandoned checkout recovery live?

Recovery calls are in beta: they work on a live store, and we are still improving them. Phone agents, calling hours and limits, sales campaigns and draft orders from a yes on the phone are live. In beta, you can also hear a new script without calling anyone, then try it on a few customers.

Are the recovery figures typical?

They come from a live store running Portantis, measured in September 2026, while recovery calls were in beta. Results depend on your products, offers, prices and customers, so the recovery report shows your own results from your first calls.

Does the AI answer emails, chats and comments too?

It suggests replies, and people send them. Support email replies are in beta. Chats that start from your ads and comments under your ads are handled in the Meta Ads module, with replies you approve. One inbox for calls, texts, chats, comments and emails is coming.

Do recovery calls pay for themselves?

On the live store where they run, yes: 500%+ ROI on AI recovery calls. That is the profit left after the real costs of each order, compared with what the calls cost. Your own report shows the same for your store.

What happens when a customer asks not to be called again?

They are not called again. On recovery calls, in beta, the customer is also marked do-not-call in your store. Every later call and campaign leaves them out, along with wrong numbers and anyone you marked do-not-call yourself.

Who is responsible for permission to call imported contacts?

You are. Before contacts from a file or from your store join a campaign, someone on your team confirms that your business has permission, or another legal right, to call them. Portantis does not check this for you, but it leaves out people who asked not to be called, repeats and wrong numbers.

Will the AI call a shopper who has already ordered?

No. Recovery calls, in beta, skip shoppers who already placed the order or cancelled it.

Does the agent take payment or place orders on its own?

It never takes payment on a call. On sales calls the agent only creates a draft order, after the customer hears the full order and total, the address is checked and they clearly say yes. On recovery calls, in beta, you decide what a yes does, for example turn the cart into an order in your store.
