Profit

E-commerce profit dashboard: your real net profit, today

Profit shows what your store really made today, where the month will probably end, and which products and costs changed it.

Why it matters

Most online store owners see their real profit weeks late, after the decisions that shaped it are already made.

In Portantis, profit is also the number that ad and restock suggestions start from, so ads, stock and purchasing pull the same way. Because Portantis already runs the orders, deliveries, ads and invoices of a live store every day, the profit figure comes from the business itself, not from exported spreadsheets.

Last month's profit arrives when it is too late to act

Most owners learn last month's profit from their accountant weeks later, when nothing can be fixed any more. Until then, decisions about ads, stock and prices run on sales and gut feeling.

Selling online hides the real figure in many places. Cash on delivery sits with the couriers, ad spend sits in the ad account, some orders have no purchase price, and some cash spending never reaches the books.

Your real net profit, every day

Home shows the net profit your store really made today, even with parcels still on the road, and where the month will probably end. Compare it with last month at the same point, line by line, to see real growth.

See where every dollar of sales goes, from product cost and ads to delivery, packaging, running costs, VAT and tax, down to what you keep. 'What moved your profit' tells you in plain words which costs and products pushed it up or down.

Every product gets a clear verdict: scale, protect, review or fix. Courier cash shows the cash-on-delivery money couriers collected, paid you and still owe you, day by day.

Home, the first item in the menu, with views for overview, profit, cash, products, sales and ads, and operations, over any period you choose.

Your profit number is not an AI guess

Your profit comes from your real orders, costs and payments, with nothing guessed. Other parts of Portantis build on it: restock suggestions use it, and the ad goals suggested for each product start from it.

How it works

  1. Connect onceConnect your store and accounts once. Your numbers fill in on their own, with no exports and no spreadsheets.
  2. See what is missingPortantis points out anything missing, like a sale with no purchase price, so profit never looks better than it is.
  3. Fix it in one placeFill in or correct a price, see how it changes profit before you save, and update your figures in one click.
  4. The month closes itselfWhen a month is done, it becomes final on its own, and you always see anything that still holds it back.

What changes for you

  • Today's net profit, not last month's
  • What changed your profit, in plain words
  • A clear verdict for every product
  • What couriers owe you, day by day
  • Final monthly figures, closed on their own

Profit, feature by feature

Net profit today, even with parcels on the road

A store paid on delivery sees its real net profit, after every cost and tax, while parcels are still on the way, so you know where the month stands today, not after the couriers pay out.

  • See today's net profit after every cost and tax, without waiting for couriers to pay.
  • See where the month will probably end, with a better and a worse case beside it.
  • Every figure tells you whether it is final or still an estimate.
  • If your figures fall behind, Home tells you and keeps showing the last good ones.

Act on this month's profit while you can still change it.

Which products to grow and which to fix

Every product shows the profit it made next to what you spent on its ads, with a clear verdict that tells you where your ad money should go next.

  • Each product gets one of four verdicts: scale, protect, review or fix.
  • See at a glance how many products make or lose money, and how much ad money goes to the ones that lose.
  • You are warned when too many customers of a product do not pick up their parcels.
  • Open a product to see its ad cost, returns, stock and sales in one place.

Stop paying for ads on products that lose money and move the budget to the ones that earn it.

Your break-even point for ads

Home shows what an average order brings in, what it costs and what is left, and how much your ads must bring back for every dollar you spend so the store does not lose money.

  • See two clear lines: where an extra order from ads stops paying for itself, and where the month as a whole slips into a loss.
  • Your ads today sit on the same scale, so you see at once which side of the line you are on.
  • It tells you how much less to spend on ads to break even, or how much more your ads can take before profit runs out.
  • When a figure is not ready yet, Home shows nothing rather than a wrong number.

Set ad goals from your own costs, and see how much room is left before ads eat your profit.

This month against last month, at the same point

Profit and every cost are set against last month at the same point, then explained product by product, so a real change is not confused with a longer or busier month.

  • A bigger month never makes a cost look worse than it is.
  • When a cost goes up, Home tells you why, such as new products, price changes or refunds.
  • See what changed your profit since your last visit, today or this past week, and the products behind it.
  • If a fair comparison is not possible, Home says so instead of showing a misleading one.

Spot a cost creeping up in the middle of the month and know which products caused it.

Real profit next to the profit in your books

One profit statement, from sales down to what you keep, that shows both what your books report and what the business really kept, including cash spending with no invoice.

  • Follow your sales down to profit after tax, line by line, with VAT, profit tax and investments on their own lines.
  • You decide once how each kind of spending counts, for example as a monthly cost, an investment or spending with no invoice.
  • Taxes stay marked as estimates until you declare them.
  • No cost is ever counted twice.

One statement that matches your books and also shows the cash spending your books never see.

Daily alerts ranked by the money at stake

Needs you gathers the problems that cost money, from every part of the business, into today, this week and this month, with the most money at stake first.

  • Today: ads running on products that lose money or are out of stock, parcels stuck on the way for couriers that report it, and orders the customer did not clearly confirm.
  • This week: products that earn money and will soon sell out with nothing on order, and orders likely not to be picked up.
  • This month: gaps in your figures, ad money not tied to any product, and parcels that came back.
  • If a connected account stops sending data or your figures fall behind, it stays at the top until it is fixed.

Start the day with the few problems that cost the most, already ranked for you.

What couriers owe you, day by day

Courier cash shows the cash-on-delivery money couriers have paid you, the money for parcels already delivered, and what is still to come, so you know what they owe without opening every courier's website.

  • See what couriers have paid you, what they still owe and what parcels on the road should bring, day by day. How much you see depends on what each courier reports.
  • A day with nothing reported shows as missing, never as zero, so a gap is never hidden.
  • Profit and cash stay apart: profit is what you earned, courier cash is what has yet to reach your bank.

Know how much cash-on-delivery money is still with the couriers and chase late payouts with the day in hand.

A month-end close that happens on its own

Each month becomes final on its own once everything is in, so the close no longer waits for someone to rebuild the numbers.

  • You always see where each month stands: in progress, settling or ready.
  • If something holds a month back, you see what it is, biggest first, and how many orders it affects.
  • Once a month is final, its figures never change. Anything that arrives later is noted beside the month instead.

Final monthly figures without anyone rebuilding them, and a clear list of what to fix first when a month is held back.

The real cost of every product you sell

Each sale uses what that stock really cost you, and every missing or wrong price can be found and fixed before it makes profit look better than it is.

  • See every sale with no purchase price, and on which products. Fill in the prices you know, then update profit in one click.
  • Correct a wrong price and see which orders it touches and how profit changes before you save.
  • A corrected price also updates in your online store, so you do not type it twice.
  • Set your packaging cost once and it counts in every profit figure.

Profit stops looking better than it is because of missing or wrong purchase prices.

What each parcel really cost to ship Beta

Each parcel carries what the courier really charged, not a flat rate, so shipping, returns and profit per order use real figures. This is in beta and still being improved.

  • Until the real charge is known, the cost is clearly marked as an estimate.
  • Parcels that come back count their shipping both ways, and Home shows what parcels customers did not pick up cost you.
  • Each parcel's shipping is counted once, never twice.

Profit per order and per product reflects your real shipping bills, including parcels that come back.

What you can do with Profit

  • Cut ads on products losing money

Needs you lists products that lose money while their ads are still running. Pause or change those ads in the morning, before they spend another day.

  • Know how far to raise ad budgets

Home shows how much more your ads can take before the month stops making money, so a budget increase has a clear limit.

  • Restock the products that earn money first

Needs you flags profitable products that will soon sell out with nothing on order, and the profit at risk. Products you are clearing out are left off, so the list holds only what deserves the money.

  • Catch a rising cost mid-month

When delivery or product costs take a bigger share of sales than at the same point last month, Home shows it and names the reason, such as new products or price changes.

  • Chase couriers for unpaid cash on delivery

Courier cash shows delivered parcels not yet paid out, and Needs you lists parcels stuck on the way. Call the customer or file a claim the same day, while it still helps.

  • Keep spending with no invoice in sight

Record spending that has no invoice on its own line. It stays out of the profit in your books but comes off your real profit, so you see what the business really kept.

  • See sales per team hour

Owners and administrators record the team's working hours and team cost per day. Home shows sales and net profit per team hour. Only team totals are kept, never salaries.

Questions about Profit

What is Profit in PortantisAI?

Profit is the PortantisAI module that shows the net profit your store really made today and where the month will probably end. It shows where every dollar of sales goes, from product cost and ads to delivery and tax, tells you in plain words what moved your profit, and gives every product a clear verdict.

How is this different from the profit my accountant reports?

Your accountant reports the books, usually weeks after the month ends. Home shows your net profit today and puts the profit in your books next to your real profit, so you also see the cash spending the books never see. Each month becomes final on its own once everything is in.

How can profit be known before orders are delivered?

Home gives you a realistic figure while parcels are still on the road, and shows where the month will probably end, not a promise. It also shows how past forecasts compared with what really happened, so you can judge how far to rely on it.

Is the profit number calculated by AI?

No. It comes from your real orders, costs and payments, with nothing guessed. Restock suggestions and the ad goals suggested for each product build on it, but the profit figure itself is never an AI guess.

What happens when product costs are missing?

The missing-data finder lists sales with no purchase price and other gaps. Fill them in and update profit in one click. You can also correct a wrong price and see how profit changes before you save.

Does it cover marketplace fees and real shipping costs?

Partly, and in beta. Profit per marketplace after fees, shipping, returns and ads is in beta, and so is the real shipping cost of each parcel. Profit-target pricing and bulk marketplace pricing are coming.

Why does profit matter to the rest of Portantis?

It is the number other decisions start from. Suggested ad goals, restock suggestions and product verdicts all use it, so ads, stock and purchasing pull the same way.

How current are the profit figures?

They update on their own through the day. Home shows when they were last updated. If they fall behind or a connected account stops sending data, a note at the top says so, and the last good figures stay on screen.

When does a month become final, and can it change afterwards?

A month becomes final on its own once everything it needs is in, and Home shows anything still holding it back. After that its figures never change. Anything that arrives later is noted beside the month instead of rewriting it.

Does the profit include what the AI work costs?

Yes. Text messages, calls, product videos and the other paid work done for your store count as costs, at what they really cost. Anything not priced yet is flagged, so you know it is missing.

How do refused parcels affect profit?

A parcel the customer does not pick up brings no sale, but its shipping both ways and its packaging still count as costs. Home also shows how many parcels are still likely to come back, and how its past forecasts compared with what really happened.

Who can see cash, debts and team cost figures?

Only owners and administrators. The cash and debts register and team hours are private to them. Team figures are totals, never salaries or individual performance, and every change keeps the earlier version.
